Technical Buyer – Heerhugowaard, Netherlands

Secure the equipment, materials and services needed for international water projects. Working from Heerhugowaard, you balance price, quality, delivery time and risk, while considering maintenance and availability throughout the life of an installation.

What you will do
• Translate project requirements into purchasing plans and requests for quotations based on engineering specifications.
• Compare offers and coordinate technical deviations with engineering and project management before placing orders.
• Select suppliers and negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery arrangements, warranties and service within your authority.
• Monitor orders, production progress and deliveries; coordinate transport and shipping documentation with the relevant partners.
• Track purchasing costs, check invoices and maintain complete supplier, order and contract records.
• Support operations with spare parts and maintenance purchasing, and identify opportunities to improve procurement processes.

What we are looking for
• Bachelor-level working and thinking ability, preferably in a technical, logistics or supply chain discipline.
• At least five years of relevant technical or project purchasing experience, preferably in water treatment, machinery, installation engineering or the process industry.
• Experience with supplier selection, negotiations, order monitoring and purchasing terms.
• Technical understanding to discuss specifications and offers with engineers and suppliers.
• Experience with international suppliers and deliveries; knowledge of Incoterms and international logistics is an advantage.
• Excellent Dutch and English; Spanish is an advantage.
• Good Excel skills and experience with ERP or purchasing systems. A procurement qualification such as NEVI is an advantage.
• Availability to work from Heerhugowaard and travel occasionally to suppliers and project sites.
