Oil-water separator
Pielkenrood’s Cross Flow Interceptor (CFI) separators remove free oil and settleable solids through gravity separation. The crossflow configuration enables simultaneous oil and solids removal, recovering valuable oil and reducing the load on subsequent treatment stages.

How it works
Oil and solids separated in one pass
Oily water flows horizontally through packs of corrugated plates, across the corrugations. Oil droplets collect in the crests and rise to the top; solids collect in the troughs and slide down into hoppers below. Because the flow runs across – not against – the separated matter, oil and solids are removed simultaneously and with the same efficiency.
Upgrades
A new life for existing CPI and TPI separators
Many CPI and TPI separators have been in service for 20 to 40 years. By converting them to Cross Flow specification within the existing basin, we add separating surface, end plate-pack clogging with online solids removal, and extend the design life by another 20 to 30 years – at comparably low cost and effort.
